A message from the Superintendent
I am pleased to take this opportunity, as the Superintendent of Beaumont Unified School District, to share with you some of the outstanding accomplishments, and positive news coming from our district. First and foremost, our students continue to excel academically. This fall three more of our elementary schools [Three Rings Ranch, Brookside, and Sundance] were nominated for California Distinguished Schools. Last spring, Sundance Elementary School was recognized as a National Title I Distinguished School. The 2006-2007 API growth statistics released by the California Department of Education indicate that Brookside, Palm, Sundance, and Three Rings Ranch exceeded their API growth targets. Mountain View Middle School not only met their API target, but it exceeded its target by a whopping 54 points. As a district, the Beaumont Unified School District met or exceeded all but one subgroup (Special Education) growth targets. Our Title II Accountability Report indicated that we exceeded all three of our Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAO) for our percent of students making annual progress in learning English, percent of students attaining English proficiency on the California English Language Development Test, and adequate yearly progress for the English Learner subgroup at the Local Educational Agency level. These outstanding test results can be directly attributed to the teachers, instructional staff, administration, district support staff and Board of Trustees that value education. Our staff is committed to providing quality instruction vital to student academic success. The Beaumont Unified School District continues to provide state-of-the-art educational facilities, safe and secure learning environments, and current instructional materials, textbooks, and support supplies to our students.

This fall we opened our newest elementary school [Tournament Hills], we finished a much needed shade structure at Beaumont High School, and last spring opened a state-of-the-art aquatic center at Beaumont High School. On September 4, 2007, we broke ground on yet another new elementary school, named after long time Beaumont teacher and administrator, Anna M. Hause. We are currently studying proposals to build two more elementary schools, one more middle school, and possibly a second high school. In the past two years we have grown over 26%, and have added an additional fifty teachers and numerous classified staff to help us with our growth. Our personnel division is recruiting year long, and we are pleased to announce that we are hiring and retaining outstanding employees to the district. We are also pleased to continue our before and after school Connections programs, and the bussing to that program for our students. The district is very proud of its Adult Education program, which offers a full contingent of courses/programs including English as a Second Language classes, GED Prep, GED Distance Learners, Medical Vocational Arts, Citizenship, a fully credentialed LVN program, and several fee based courses. I want to compliment our parents who actively support our PTSA’s, our athletic and co-curricular teams/groups. Your support and commitment to our educational programs is vital to the success of our school district.

In closing, I want to encourage all of our parents to actively support their children in all of their educational pursuits. The Beaumont Unified School District is committed to providing the highest quality educational opportunities for all our students. Quality education is truly a “shared commitment” between home, school and community.
