KAUFMAN AND BROAD NAMES DOMINGO CLEMENTE NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF SHOWROOMS

LOS ANGELES (September 21, 2000) - Kaufman and Broad Home Corporation (NYSE:KBH) today announced that Domingo Clemente has been named to the newly created position of national director of showrooms. Clemente will oversee all 16 of the Company's showroom locations, including its three Dream Home Studios. Reporting to Chief Operating Officer Jeff Mezger, Clemente will work to maximize financial performance of the showrooms while continually increasing the product and service offerings available to homebuyers.

 
Kaufman and Broad is known for its innovative business model that gives homebuyers a custom home experience at a production home price. The Company offers buyers more than 5,000 options at each of its showrooms, giving homebuyers the ability to choose the features they've always dreamed of at an affordable price. Its newest initiative - the Dream Home Studio - is a retail outlet for the sale of homes and home options that ultimately will replace the new home showrooms.

Clemente comes to Kaufman and Broad with more than ten years retail experience including experience with The Home Depot's EXPO Design Centers and IKEA Home Furnishing. His retail experience includes store management, customer service, sales training, merchandising, store planning, visual presentation and displays.

Clemente is a graduate of The American College for the Applied Arts and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. He is certified with NCIDQ in barrier-free design.
