Winchester is a census-designated place (CDP) in Riverside County, California, and less than 10 miles from the larger cities of Hemet, Menifee, Perris and San Jacinto. Residents enjoy a rural, small-town atmosphere, with easy proximity to shopping, dining and major employers — local parks have baseball fields, picnic areas, playgrounds and grassy lawns. Discover opportunities for culture and entertainment at Hemet’s two museums and outdoor amphitheater in the nearby foothills. The Hemet Museum showcases memorabilia and local history — it also features the Western Science Center, which has exhibits of Ice Age mammals, including Max, the largest mastodon found in the western United States. For outdoor adventure, visit these popular spots:
- Lake Perris State Recreation Area. This 8,200-acre site is ideal for hiking, bicycling, fishing, swimming, picnicking and camping. It’s also a prime destination to enjoy speedboats, pontoons, jet skis, sailboats, kayaks and canoes.
- Diamond Valley Lake. Visitors can enjoy fishing and light boating, as well as a recreation park, aquatic center and marina. The Southwestern Riverside County Multi-Species Reserve is home to endangered or threatened native California bird, animal and plant species.
*Consistent with California energy regulations, new homes must be equipped with solar panels. These are not included in the posted price, but may be leased for a monthly payment, or purchased for an additional cost that may be eligible for mortgage financing. The required size of the solar system depends on several factors, including home size and climate zone. The installed solar system may reduce your monthly local electric utility company bill. For more information, see sales agent and Solar Energy System Addendum.
